DQ 1. What
changes in the population can we expect to see over the next decade? Discuss
changes in the older population as well as the general population for he next
decade and use current statistical data.
DQ 2. There
are several categories a Gerontologist/Gerontological Specialist can work in
according to this week's readings. List
and describe three (3) of these possible career categories and name a specific
job one may have in each category.
There are many stereotypes about
the elderly and we see older adults portrayed on television, in movies, and in
advertisements. We read about older adults in books, magazines and see how they
are depicted in greeting cards. Much of what we know, or think we may know,
comes from these sources and they may not be entirely true.
Research 3 different types of
media, electronic or print, that depict an older adult. Then write a 700-1,050
word APA formatted paper with References on your findings. Offer examples of
stereotypes from the specific types of media you select and examine and how the
older adult is being portrayed positively or negatively.
